Today I heard a little Wayne song and damned near crashed my car. I had given up on the radio long ago and just happened across power 106 when 6 foot 7 came on. Dear Lord, someone has finally returned to the essence of hip hop, straight lyrics, sick beat, no skinny jean shout outs, club specials, or new dances just straight lyricism. Am I alone in my quest to find Hip-Hop? I mean real Hip-Hop not manufactured music, with no lyrics, creativity or heart. I mean a return to the era when music was made for the love, for the art, not the terms of a recording contract. I have long ago stopped watching Pop Hop which is streamed on BET and MTV but at least I can say today I heard something that made me reminisce.
